This month I am highlighting the drink of love, the drink of celebration, and what could be more romantic than the elegant champagne house Perrier Jouet, founded by newlyweds Pierre Nicolas Perrier and Rose Adelaide Jouet in 1811 often described as the love child of the two. The wine business was not new to the young couple, as Pierre was the son of a winegrower and Rose was the daughter of a wine merchant and their combined last names would form what we know as Perrier Jouet, one of the most exceptional champagnes of all times.
Its iconic floral design, the Japanese anemones, was first created and hand-painted by Emile Galle in 1902, known as the Belle Époque collection. A handful of these designed magnum bottles were cellared and lost for over 60 years and were rediscovered in 1964, and re-released in 1969 as the Belle Époque Cuvée.
The Belle Époque collection continues to attract people today making it the perfect gift for any occasion.
My personal drink of choice at cocktail hour will always be a glass of Brut, and the Perrier Jouet’s soft, luscious bubbles, crisp apple notes, are a perfect way to start any evening.
